In preparation for a National Lighting Show, Molex had a new product they wished to display in product context, but had no time to engage conventional manufacturers to create the needed items.
Lumenique was commissioned to design, and build 57 products that included an aimable accent, pendant, downlight, wall sconce, information kiosk piece, and demo stand for a show happening concurrently in Germany. In each design, the Molex module inside was exposed for customer view.
These products were 3D printed (in grey, red and black) and assembled with off-the-shelf heat sinks to complete the products needed in just 4 weeks.
Each of the pieces were quoted, then created in 3D CAD, rendered for approval. In this case, a prototype was also made to complete thermal testing, before producing the remaining duplicates. At each step, the customer was provided updates and opportunities to provide feedback and make adjustments.
The finished presentation contributed to the product winning an award for Most Innovative Product of the Year at this show.
